HOW TO REPLACE THE INCUBATION FAN ON AN RCOM MAX 20/50 INCUBATOR

Rcom Max 20 Incubator Fan

This short blog post is a step-by-step guide explaining how to replace the the ventilation fans of the Rcom 20/50 egg incubator. The ventilation fan is the component that circulates the air.

If the ventilation fan does not rotate during incubation, this means that the fan is faulty and will most likely need to be replaced.

To replace the ventilation fan, follow the steps below:

Step 1. Disconnect the power

To be completely safe, turn off the power at the wall socket. Then, remove the plug from the wall.

Step 2. Remove the viewing window and egg tray

Carefully remove the viewing window and the egg tray which may be inside. It is recommended to place them on a towel or soft material to avoid scratches.

Step 3. Separate the top and bottom bodies of the incubator

Open the side locks of the incubator to separate the upper and lower bodies; place the upper body upside down on a work surface. It is recommended to place it on a towel or soft material to avoid scratching the display.

Step 4. Remove the screws of the power plug

At the rear of the upper body, remove with a phillips screwdriver, the two steel screws marked, which secure the IEC C8 plug.

Step 5. Remove the black plastic cover that contains the ventilation fans

The ventilation fans are the parts you see behind the grills. (Two on Rcom 20 models and four on Rcom 50 models)

Step 5.a. Remove the cover screws

Remove the six steel screws from the black cover, marked in the figure above.

Lift the cover off and put it down. The two fans are attached with four steel screws and are both connected to the PCB by a plug. In order to be able to disconnect the plugs of the fans it is necessary to remove the PCB from its housing.

Step 5b. Unmounting the PCB

Smoothly pull up the PCB by hand and lay it flat.

Step 6. Remove ventilation fan

Step 6a. Disconnect the plug

Using a thin screwdriver, pry the tab away from the defective fan plug while pulling gently to remove it. See image above.

Detaching the plug should be an easy procedure and should therefore not be forced.

Step 6b. Removing the screws

Remove the four steel screws from the damaged vent fan to remove it from its mounting base. The fan is now fully detached and ready to be replaced.

Step 7. Mount the new ventilation fan

Step 7a. Screw on

Fit the new ventilation fan and fix it with the four screws.

Step 7b. Connecting the plug

Now push the plug into the pins on the circuit board. Again, this procedure should be easy and not require too much force.

Step 8: Assemble the black cover

Screw the black cover back into the upper body of the incubator.
